The University of Oxford's museum of art and archaeology, founded in 1683 and among the oldest public museums in the world. Its collections run from ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome through Asian art to European paintings and the Pre-Raphaelites. The building is a neoclassical landmark on Beaumont Street, and the collections reward a slow visit.
