Shakespeare's comedy about two couples in Messina: Beatrice and Benedick, who spar constantly, and the young lovers Hero and Claudio, who are driven apart by a villain's lie. Their friends trick Beatrice and Benedick into love. It has some of the sharpest wit in Shakespeare and a satisfying happy ending.
