Luke Wright

Say Owt presentsLuke Wright: Yes.The Crescent, YorkThursday 27th May Doors 7pm, Show 7.30pm *This is a seated show with all seating unreserved* Say Owt presents stand-up poet Luke Wright. Luke used to think he had the answers. Now he's not so sure. For twenty-five years, Fringe First winner Luke Wright has been writing poems that wrestle with the world around him. In this new show, he discovers that certainty is rarely as useful as he once thought. As children grow up, heroes become more complicated and old certainties begin to wobble, Wright finds himself looking again: at the country he lives in, the people he loves, and even those he thought he'd already made his mind up about. Part poetry, part stand-up Yes. is about changing your mind without losing your convictions - and staying open in an increasingly entrenched world. "Honesty, humour, ire and wonder. He is at the peak of his powers." ***** The Stage "His poems shoot arrows through the heart." ***** The List "A sharpness and wisdom that lifts the soul and soothes the battered heart." **** The Scotsman "Witty observation and rollicking acuity." **** The Guardian
