The ruins of a medieval castle on the shore of Loch Ness, one of the most visited castles in Scotland. It has stood in some form since the thirteenth century, changing hands many times, and was partly blown up in 1692 to keep it out of Jacobite hands. The grounds have views down the loch, which attracts monster-spotters.
