One of Scotland's grandest castles, on a volcanic rock above the town where the country's history was shaped. It was a favourite residence of the Stewart kings and queens, and Mary, Queen of Scots was crowned in its Chapel Royal. Visitors can see the Renaissance palace with its richly furnished rooms, the Great Hall and the kitchens.
