The fortress that dominates the Edinburgh skyline from its volcanic Castle Rock. Inside are the Honours of Scotland, the Scottish crown jewels, the Stone of Destiny, the huge medieval cannon Mons Meg and the National War Museum. The One O'Clock Gun is fired from the battlements each day except Sunday, and the views over the city are superb.
