A Norman castle on the north shore of Belfast Lough, begun in about 1177 by John de Courcy and still standing largely intact. It is one of the best preserved medieval castles in Ireland and was used as a garrison for centuries. Inside there are displays about its history, and the battlements look out across the lough.
