A moated fourteenth-century castle in East Sussex, built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge with a licence to fortify his home. Its walls, towers and gatehouse stand largely complete and rise straight from the water, which makes it one of the most photographed castles in England. Visitors can climb the towers for views across the Sussex countryside.
