Anton Chekhov's last play, written in 1904, about an aristocratic Russian family who face losing their estate and its beloved cherry orchard because of debt. A self-made merchant offers a practical solution, but they cannot bring themselves to accept it. It is funny and sad at the same time and one of the great plays about change.
